Earlier in the match, Liverpool took the lead in the 14th minute of the match after Virgil Van Dijk leapt over everyone to find the back of the net from his head. Liverpool could have two goals in the first half. However, VAR overturned the goal after reviewing Van Dijk’s clash with De Gea.

Manchester United played with much more intent in the second half and almost scored the equaliser when Anthony Martial inexplicably missed from the box. Despite the spirited effort, Manchester United leave Merseyside with no points to show for.
