AMuS journalist reports Leclerc desperate for 2019 Ferrari move
Ferrari have left the F1 fraternity in the midst of a ‘rumour upheaval’, with fresh reports from all over the world providing updates on what the future could look like for Ferrari, Leclerc and Raikkonen.
While no official announcement has been made yet, reports from all over the globe suggest that for the moment Kimi seems to be out of a Ferrari seat for 2019.
The Ferrari management are pushing for a deal with Leclerc and Ferrari, one where both drivers stay put for 2019 and the Leclerc to Ferrari deal goes through in 2020.
Sauber want a straight swap at the end of 2019 and according to reports in Finland, Raikkonen could get become a part owner at Sauber too, in a new driver/developer role.
Now, with the F1 fraternity getting a little restless with the state of affairs at Ferrari with respect to the Raikkonen announcement, fans have been all over social media looking for answers.
Tobi Gruner of AMuS has been one of the most trusted sources this ‘silly season’ and has reported that an announcement hasn’t come through, because Leclerc does not want to give up on a chance of driving for Ferrari in 2019.
The move might seem a little selfish to Kimi fans, but a lot can change in one year, and Leclerc does not want to settle for less, when he was clearly considered good enough for that Ferrari drive.
“I’ve no idea sorry. But according to my info Leclerc does not want to give up the chance to drive for Ferrari in 2019. So it would be a huge surprise if they somehow manage to keep Kimi in.” Gruner tweeted.
