Atletico Madrid defeated Juventus in the first leg of the Champions League round of-16, and Ronaldo angrily mocked his former city rivals.

Atletico Madrid took a 2-0 lead in the round-of-16 tie against Juventus last night. Goals from Jose Gimenez and Diego Godin secured the win for the host side.

The Italian champions face a humongous task in the second leg. The side has never overturned a two-goal deficit in the Champions League.

Cristiano Ronaldo was largely ineffective in the game against his former rivals. The Portuguese forward was justifiably not happy with the result, and proceeded to mock Atletico Madrid as he left Wanda Metropolitano.

In the media-zone, Ronaldo refused to speak directly to the journalists and made the ‘Five-Zero’ sign again, implying that he has won five Champions League titles, while Atletico are yet to win one.

Ronaldo was constantly booed and jeered by the Atletico Madrid fans, and he left the media zone with a scowl on his face.

Here’s the video:

Ronaldo also made similar gestures during the game when the Atletico fans booed him.

The Portuguese forward has won four Champions League titles with Real Madrid, and one with Manchester United in 2008. Ronaldo is the currently the defending champion of the tournament, having lifted the title with Real Madrid last year.

Juventus are hopeful of Champions League success with Cristiano Ronaldo on their side, but the task looks increasingly difficult now as they await the second leg in Turin.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to Cristiano Ronaldo’s performance:
