Indian cricketers have a very busy schedule. Just a couple of days after their disappointing Champions Trophy defeat, team India travels to the Caribbean to face the West Indies starting from June 23. But in a surprising bit of information, Anil Kumble stays back as the Indian team leaves for West Indies.

The official reason why Kumble has stayed back is because he has to attend the ICC ‘Annual Conference’. This conference started on Monday and will continue until June 23.

“Yes, chief coach Anil Kumble is staying back for the ICC Meeting. The team is flying off to Barbados today,” a team source confirmed. Interestingly, there has no word on whether or not Kumble will join the team after he has completed his duties.

There has been a lot of controversy surrounding Kumble’s post as head coach. There were several reports that claimed that many players were unhappy with Kumble’s authoritarian approach as a coach.

Apparently, Kumble and Kohli were not seeing eye to eye for a few days prior to the Champions trophy. According to reports, Kohli has told the BCCI that the team would like to have a new coach.

There were also doubts as to whether Kumble will travel to the West Indies with the team, which is why this ICC meeting looks like a convenient excuse.

“Funny, the ICC Meeting dates are known for months and so is the West Indies itinerary. You mean Anil didn’t know he had to choose between ICC Meeting and the West Indies tour. May be he is finding it too difficult to continue,” the official said.

Let’s see what the future holds for Anil Kumble!
