French international Antoine Greizmann has gone on to become a household name from the time where he was unheard at Real Sociedad at the beginning of his career in Spain.

The Frenchmen under the tutelage of Argentinian Diego Simeone has gone on to become one of the hottest property in the World football, with Manchester United leading the race for the French international.

The striker was widely expected to seal a place at the Old Trafford before the move failed, with Jose Mourinho capturing the services of the Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku for a record signing for a Belgian player.

Since the failed move, Barcelona has been the club which has been most linked with the forward.

Spanish website Diario Gol suggests that Greizmann has told that he will sign for the club, but with terms of his own.

However, since then the striker’s form has dipped and has been in similar trajectory with the Uruguyuan international, who has too struggled to find the back of the net.

The ultimatum:

Diario Gol says that Barcelona’s manager Ernesto Valverde is hellbent on making Griezmann the focal point of his attack next season. This is likely to end the spell for the former Liverpool striker, who has been regarded as one of the best strikers in modern football.

Barcelona, in the recent past, has secured the signatures of fellow French internationals Samuel Umtiti and Lucas Digne and Ousmane Dembele as recent as in August.

However, he only wants to be the club’s main man – something Barcelona will no doubt be reluctant to agree to. Meanwhile, Atletico’s right-back Juanfran wants the striker to stay at the capital despite his poor start to the campaign.

“[Griezmann] is a very important player for us, and we are with him,” he said before going on to add “We love him and we trust in him. But any decision the boss makes, with him or anyone else, we accept.”

“The boss does the best for the team. Griezmann should be relaxed. We will support him.” he concluded.
