Antoine Griezmann: Barcelona to trigger mammoth Griezmann release clause on this date

Antoine Griezmann: Barcelona to trigger mammoth Griezmann release clause of £107 million on July 1st, after its activation on the same date.

Barcelona remained as the forerunners to sign Antoine Griezmann ever since he announced his departure from Atletico Madrid last month. However, the negotiations were stalled due to various reasons.

Although, according to a report by the Telegraph informs that Barcelona are set to trigger Griezmann’s release clause of €120 million from Atletico Madrid after a release clause in his contract comes into force on July 1.

It was earlier reported that Barcelona president has claimed that the club have not agreed a personal deal with the French International, but various sources suggests the opposite.

Moreover, this deal could thwart Neymar’s move to Barcelona, as the Catalan club would surely not make two highly expensive signings in the same window.

On the other side, it was also reported that various senior players in Barcelona are against the move, after he openly refused to join Barcelona last year while releasing an hour long documentary, which gave a sour taste to the Blaugranas.

However, it is now claimed that Barcelona are reportedly near to finalize a move for the World Cup winning player, and ready to trigger his release clause.

At the same time, it is also agreed that Griezmann will earn significantly less in Barcelona, in comparison to what he was paid at Los Rojniblancos.

Nevertheless, official statements from both the clubs are still awaited, until then, only speculations and rumours can indicate the further movements in the negotiations.
