Arsenal News: Granit Xhaka named as Arsenal's new permanent captain

Arsenal News: Granit Xhaka named as Arsenal’s new permanent captain after Unai Emery scrapping his ‘five captains’ policy.

Granit Xhaka has been named as the permanent captain at Arsenal after scrapping his ‘five skippers’ policy, which he introduced last year, and the five players rotated the Arsenal armband.

According to a statement by BBC Sports reporter David Ornstein, Arsenal has named Xhaka as the permanent captain of the club amidst the start of new season.

Last year, Emery named five players in the squad, Laurent Koscielny, Petr Cech, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil and Xhaka. Out of which, three players have already left, leaving Ozil and Xhaka as the only candidates.

The German International is no where near to make a contention for a regular starting lineup call under Emery, leave the captain armband thing all alone.

Thus, leaving Xhaka all alone to lead the contingent on permanent basis. So far, Xhaka has wore the captain armband in all the 6 matches played so far in the league. Henceforth, it was obvious that the Swedish International will lead the team.

The new Arsenal captain also leads his national team, and proves to be an undisputed leader. Meanwhile Arsenal are yet to name a vice-captain but speculations are that it will be one between Pierre-Emrick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

This decision came ahead of Arsenal’s match against Manchester United, with the North Londoners set to travel to the Old Trafford ahead of the 7th game-week clash on Monday.

So far, Arsenal’s season has been bit rocky, as recent lump in form made them go below in the table, contrary to the start they had in the first 3 matches of the League, until they met Liverpool and suffered a huge setback.

Hence, it is speculated that Emery might have his job under a potential danger with the recent string of performances by the Gunners.
