The games against Newcastle United and Burnley were more about securing three points, rather than producing one with a captivating display. The first match against the Magpies was tame, while the Clarets showcased the Gunners’ defensive vulnerability. It forced Unai Emery to ponder and reshuffle the midfield – protecting the backline from getting exposed once again.
On the other hand, Liverpool were the ones to inaugurate this year’s Premier League season with a comfortable 4-1 victory over Norwich City in Anfield. That game was followed by a successful Super Cup clash against Chelsea in Istanbul. Jurgen Klopp’s side showed no signs of slowing down – managing to clinch a marginal 2-1 win against Southampton last weekend.
The Reds enter this game as favourites, but the Gunners could avert the hosts’ dominance because of the forward line. The likes of Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette have goals and could disrupt the rhythm of Liverpool.
We shall look at Arsenal’s potential starting lineup against Liverpool.
