Arsenal are targeting their third signing of the summer, as they chase Ever Banega from Sevilla.

Unai Emery’s club has been quite active in the transfer market, with two signings already in the transfer kitty. Arsenal signed veteran defender Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juventus, and yesterday announced Bern Leno’s signature from Bayer Leverkusen.

While Arsenal are strongly linked with the transfer of Borussia Dortmund’s defender Sokratis Papasthatopoulos, reports emerge that the Gunners are also targeting Ever Banega from Sevilla.

The Argentine midfielder is currently in Russia, representing his team in the World Cup. He made his appearance as a substitute in Argentina’s first game against Iceland.

According to Mirror, Ever Banega could be the third signing for Arsenal. Banega re-signed for Sevilla only last year, after leaving them for Inter Milan in 2016. He has played most of his career in Spain’s top division, having represented Valencia and Atletico Madrid in the past.

Earlier, Jack Wilshere confirmed his departure from Arsenal, which makes a void in the Arsenal’s midfield. This might perhaps be the reason for Gunners’ moving for the Argentine midfielder.

Ever Banega has been a first-team regular for Valencia, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Sevilla throughout his playing career. He was central to Sevilla’s win against Manchester United in the round-of-16 match in the Champions League.

Gazzetta dello Sporto, Spain’s eminent transfer news outlet, also reported Unai Emery’s interest in bringing Ever Banega to the Emirates. Their journalist, Nicolo Schira, reported the news.
