Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners submit bid for Real Madrid forward as Emery eyes second summer signing

Arsenal have lodged a bid for Real Madrid’s Lucas Vazquez, but he has numerous options.

Arsenal have reportedly lodged a bid worth €32m (£28.6m) up front, with another €3m (£2.69m) in add-ons for Real Madrid’s Lucas Vazquez.

The Spanish International has expressed his desire to play more and has told the board about the same. The forward started just 27 games in the major competitions last season and with the Euro 2020 in the sight, Vazquez wants regular game time.

The 28-year-old has struggled to cement in his name in the starting lineup since his promotion to Real Madrid senior squad in 2015. With Eden Hazard’s inclusion, and a possible transfer for Kylian Mbappe in the successive year, the Los Blancos are willing to part ways with Lucas Vazquez before it’s too late. The arrival of Luka Jovic, Vinicius Junior, and Rodrygo has pushed him further behind the pecking order. It is a mutual agreement with the player and the club to cut down the allegiance this summer.

According to AS, the Gunners have tabled a €35 million deal for the Spanish International, but Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, and PSG are the three sides to show interest over a potential transfer. Albeit the three heavyweights, it is Arsenal who are surprisingly heading the shortlist for the forward because of the guaranteed game time at the Emirates Stadium.

Since Zidane’s side head to America for the pre-season tour next week, they want to wrap this transfer before to keep the squad in shape. Vazquez wants to leave the club and Arsenal would welcome him, so negotiations will be relatively quick. Whether they are successful remains to be seen.

Unai Emery has made Lucas Vazquez as one of the primary targets and would be pushing hard for this deal to go through. The former Sevilla manager will be eager to rack him in his depleted forward line.

What’s next?

Since player’s preference is to play in the Premier League, Arsenal could land him, but they are just front-runners currently.
