Arsenal Transfer News: Mikel Arteta opens up on Aubameyang Barcelona link amidst the certainty surrounding the forward’s future.

According to reports from Spain, Arsenal star and captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has already made contacts with Spanish Champions and has agreed to join them. The report claims that with Luis Suarez out with injury, the Catalans are keen to bring in Aubameyang. The star forward is also keen to add trophies and titles to his CV.

However, his manager Mikel Arteta believes that Aubameyang’s future lies at North London. According to him, despite there being only one year left in his contract with Arsenal, the Gabonese will not look to leave the club.

Aubameyang’s future is with Arsenal

When asked about Aubameyang’s latest link with Barcelona, Arteta told Arsenal’s official Website:

‘As far as I know, I think a week ago, we were discussing that he said he was so happy, that he didn’t agree with the things that were being written in the media, that he has his future here.

‘I’m so happy with that so that’s where I’m standing at the moment.’

Aubameyang has been Arsenal’s standout performer this season. The forward has scored 14 goals in 22 Premier League matches so far. He has easily been their best player this season. The Gunners cannot afford to lose him if they are to somehow finish in the top 4 or even attempt to win the Europa League.

Arteta’s assurance will come as a sigh of relief to the many Arsenal fans; for whom, the Gabonese has been the only shining light in a miserable campaign that has seen them languish at 10th place after 24 matches. However, only 4 points separate them from Manchester United at 5th place and 10 from 4th place Chelsea. As long as the Gunners have Aubameyang firing at full form, the chances of closing the gap is still very likely with 14 more matches to go.
