Arsenal vs Liverpool: Unai Emer has confirmed that an Arsenal star could be absent for the big game against table-toppers Liverpool.

Arsenal’s winning run finally came to an end against Crystal Palace yesterday. The hosts held Arsenal to a 2-2 draw, but Arsenal are still 4th in the league table. However, they can slip to fifth if Tottenham gets a result against Manchester City tonight.

Milivojevic scored both the goals for Crystal Palace through penalties. Palace took a lead in the game at the brink of halftime. Arsenal started the second half strongly, and equalized with a terrific free-kick from Granit Xhaka. Minutes later, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gave Gunners the lead.

Arsenal will now play in the Carabao Cup where they take on Blackpool in the round-of-16, before meeting Liverpool.

Arsenal’s clash against Liverpool would be significant as Jurgen Klopp’s side, at least for now, are at the top of the table. Even if City wins tonight, they’ll be level on points with Guardiola’s team, albeit behind on goal difference.

Unai Emery, however, provided a bad news for Arsenal fans before the much-awaited clash at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal vs Liverpool:

Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin was substituted at halftime with an injury, and Unai Emery confirmed the bad news for Arsenal fans.

“Yes, he’s injured,” Emery said on being asked about Bellerin. “I hope it’s not a big injury, but he had muscular pains.

“I don’t know [whether he’s a doubt for the Liverpool game next Saturday].”

Bellerin was replaced by Stephan Lichtsteiner in the second half. It is expected that the Spanish defender will not feature in Arsenal’s Carabao Cup clash on Wednesday.

What next?

Even when the winning run has come to an end, Arsenal are still on an 11-game unbeaten run at the moment.

Unai Emery would aim to continue with the same intensity when they take on Blackpool in Wednesday’s knock-out fixture.
