Unai Emery wants to bring Andre Gomes to Arsenal, even when he had struggled in his time at Barcelona.

The Arsenal manager wants to bring the Portuguese midfielder to The Emirates. Emery also reportedly wants to sell players to free funds to sign the player.

Emery realises that the Portuguese has struggled at Camp Nou in his time there, however he sees Andre Gomes fit to qualify as his player at Arsenal.

Unai Emery’s club has been quite active in the transfer market, with three signings already in the transfer kitty. Arsenal signed veteran defender Stephan Lichtsteiner from Juventus and announced Bern Leno’s signature from Bayer Leverkusen in June. Yesterday, Arsenal also confirmed the signing of Sokratis Papastathopoulos from Borussia Dortmund.

Besides, Arsenal are also interested in Argentina’s Ever Banega, who impressed on his performances with Argentina at the World Cup. Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla have left Arsenal, which makes midfield signings a priority for the Gunners.

However, Arsenal have a problem with their transfer budget and hence Emery is tilted towards selling some players to clear funds for Andre Gomes.

The Independent reports that Unai Emery would consider sacrificing other sales to bring Andres Gomes to Arsenal.

The club is also considering a deal for Lucas Torreira, although the club is yet to formally approach the player.

Gomes joined Barcelona in 2016, and has since appeared for the club in 46 La Liga games and has made 78 appearances for the club. However, he made only 16 league appearances last season, which was one of the most successful league campaigns for Barca in recent history.

The Catalan giants lost only one game in the whole campaign, as they eased past their rivals Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid to lift the La Liga title.
