Pavon to Arsenal

The Gunners want to strike a deal with Boca Juniors for their forward Cristian Pavon. 40 million Euros is required to lure him away.

Arsenal are reportedly wishing to add Cristian Pavon their roster in the winter transfer window, according to the English outlet Metro. The Argentine has a price tag of 40 million which the Gunners are ready to match and lure him to the Emirates.

Unai Emery lost one of his forwards Danny Welbeck through an injury last month which will keep him out for rest of the season. Another point which is to be noted is the contract of the English International ends after this season and there is there very little chance that he would be fit to play football again this term.

The 22-year-old is currently contracted with the Argentine outfit Boca Juniors until 2022. Having already caught the eyes of several scouts in the World Cup, he has an exciting future ahead of himself should be nurtured properly.

He is a product of the Club Atletico Talleres and made just one appearance there. He attracted several clubs but opted to go to the Argentine heavyweights Boca Juniors.  Cristian Pavon signed for Boca Juniors in 2014 has featured 96 times for the club till date. He has netted 26 goals and assisted another 29 to his tally.

With the capability to play anywhere across the front line, Pavon has established himself as one of the best players in the Argentine top-tier football despite injuring himself for most parts of this season. It is understood that Unai Emery is a massive fan of the Boca Juniors forward and wants to bring him to London in the January market as he eyes to bolster the squad.

Currently, Alexander Lacazette is the only player playing through the middle. Emery is forced to use Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang through the left flank whenever these the strike partners start the game.

Mesut Ozil has struggled to find his feet under the new manager, and any deal for Pavon makes total sense as Arsenal are still in need of a wide player who could possess a serious threat in the final third. Henrikh Mkhitaryan is considered as an impact substitute after failing to stamp his authority under the Spaniard.

There is no doubt about the need for a wide attacker, but making too many changes at a time would result in calamity sometimes. Cristian Pavon would bring another characteristic as he has an eye on the goal and has an extraordinary vision to find his teammates.

After making five signings in the summer transfer window, Stephen Leichsteiner, Bernd Leno, Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira, and Sokratis Papastathopoulos would be interesting to see if Unai Emery decides to dig deep in the January transfer window after making significant changes in the club already.

The Gunners travel to the South coast to play Southampton on Sunday following their 1-0 win the Europa League against the Azerbaijan outfit Qarabag on Thursday. After their trip to the St.Marys, they will play their arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates in the League Cup.
