So far, Arsene Wenger has had a wonderful summer.

Last season was a tumultuous one for Arsenal and its supporters. For the first time in 21 years, Arsenal failed to qualify for the Champions league.

This was a huge blow to Wenger especially, as it meant that he completely ran out of his usual excuses at the end of the season.

The fans turned on their most successful manager, as a string of poor results in February and March meant that Arsenal would have their worst finish in the league under Wenger.

But a late revival including a victory in the FA Cup final against Chelsea meant that Wenger and Arsenal ended the season on a high.

And the club’s activity in the transfer window has renewed optimism among the fans. Arsenal has brought in Saed Kolasinac along with club record signing Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon.

More importantly, Arsenal have managed to keep hold of their star players. Mesut Ozil has confirmed that he wishes to stay at Arsenal and will discuss a new contract after they return from Sydney.

The future of Hector Bellerin, which seemed to be some doubt at the end of last season, has been cleared up for good. Wenger was strong and decisive when he told Bellerin that he will not be leaving Arsenal this summer.

And now comes the big one. Alexis Sanchez is without a doubt the best player at Arsenal and no one has much of an idea if he is going to remain at Arsenal next year or not. But Wenger is supremely confident of keeping his star man beyond this summer.

Sanchez is in the last year of his contract which means that he could go for free next summer. While Manchester City have made their interest quite public, Wenger has maintained that he will not sell Sanchez this year, especially to a rival.

Wenger has revealed that he exchanged text messages with Alexis, and is quite positive about Sanchez’s future at Arsenal.

‘Of course. There is not a lot to resolve at the moment with the player.

‘I have spoken through text and it was very positive. My thoughts are always positive.’

Great time to be an Arsenal fan!
