Asensio's future at Real Madrid:

Asensio’s future at Real Madrid: The Real Madrid attacker has had a disappointing season so far.

Real Madrid are currently fourth in the La Liga. The side enjoyed their third successive Club World Cup triumph, and became the most successful team in the tournament last week.

However, they endured a poor start to the season, and Florentino Perez oversaw the sacking of Julen Lopetegui after a crushing 5-1 loss against Barcelona in season’s first El Clasico.

Real Madrid also underwent their worst goalless run in club’s history under Lopetegui. Santiago Solari replaced the former national team coach at Real, and brought some stability to the season.

One player who is struggling to perform for Real Madrid this season is Marcos Asensio. In 16 outings in the La Liga this season, Asensio has scored only 1 goal. The attacker has been criticised for his disappointing performances, and has been linked with moves to Liverpool and Inter Milan. However, his agent has now spoken on the situation.

Asensio’s future at Real Madrid:

Marcos Asensio’s agent, Horacio Gaggioli, has talked about the player’s future to FCInterNews after the player was linked with a move to the club.

While he failed to confirm if Inter Milan had approached the player, he stated that Asensio will stay at Real Madrid.

“It’s an honour that a club like Inter Milan is interested in Marco,” Gaggioli said. However, he stated that the player has ‘no intention’ to leave Santiago Bernabeu.

“I don’t know if that report is accurate, but for the moment the player has no intention of leaving Real Madrid,” the agent stated.

Marcos Asensio is still considered as the future of Real Madrid, and more so after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese forward left the club earlier this summer in a 100 million euro transfer deal to Italian giants Juventus.

While Asensio has been disappointing for Real Madrid this season, the club is reportedly willing to give him more opportunities.

Asensio signed for Real Madrid in 2013 from Mallorca, and became a first-team regular in 2016 after being loaned out for two seasons at Mallorca and Espanyol.

What next?

Real Madrid will return to La Liga with the game against Villareal on January 3.
