The former Titans starting cornerback entered free agency with high hopes but he clearly overestimated his market. He had to wait much longer than he wanted to but he's happy to be back in New York. Deandre Baker was charged with 4 counts of robbery and might be sentenced to jail. Giants mostly signed Ryan to a 1-year deal as more of a 'prove it' year. If Logan Ryan wants to earn more and play more, he's going to have to prove it with the Giants. Logan Ryan is returning home to New Jersey. A $7.5 million deal is pretty good, but Ryan racked a total of 113 tackles, 4 forced fumbles, 4 interceptions and 8 passes defended. He also recorded 8 quarterback pressures and recorded 4 sacks proving to be a good blitzer. 57.4% of his snaps played were in the slot proving he is a versatile player. These stats hover around the top of the league for cornerbacks and he's proven to be quite impactful. Not to mention sealing the playoff game against the Patriots in 2019 with a Pick-Six. But why did he have to wait for so long to sign with a team, why didn't he get a bigger contract? Why were the offers below his expectations? The starting cornerback does have a few downsides. He allowed more than a staggering 1000 receiving yards, being beat constantly at deep plays. He also allowed 80 receptions being neither perfect in zone or man coverage. As per PFF "Bringing back Logan Ryan with Tannehill, Conklin and Henry seems to be a pipe dream. Ryan is by no means an elite slot corner — in fact, he surrendered over 1,000 yards in coverage in 2019 and was constantly picked on. That being said, he’s still an average player at the position — he was the 48th most valuable corner in 2019." Thus showing while Ryan did bring an overall impact to the field, he was also a weak point for the Titan's defense. However, Ryan still has time to improve and can perhaps get the offer he was looking for in 2021. Coming into free-agency, Ryan was expecting more than $10 million at the very least but things didn't really go his way. He should be open to resigning with the Giants, but he'll certainly have competition as other elite cornerbacks such as Richard Sherman and Shaquill Griffin will be in the mix as well.
