Barcelona have suddenly become contenders to sign Eden Hazard from Chelsea.

The Belgian attacker is likely to leave the London club at the end of the World Cup. Real Madrid were earlier reported to be the preferred destination for Eden Hazard, as he himself seemingly admitted before joining Belgium on national duty.

“If I have a good World Cup then things will be easier,” Eden Hazard explained in an interview with L’Equipe before the tournament.

“Real Madrid interest me, everybody knows that, and if they don’t love me then they won’t talk about it. If they want to buy me then they know what they have to do,” Hazard further stated.

However, latest report from Spanish outlet Sport claims that Barcelona have also entered the race to sign Eden Hazard.

It is claimed that Barcelona have been working secretly to see if a move would be possible, and it’s thought Chelsea would be open to selling one of their key men. However, Barcelona know that they will have to offer better salary for Eden Hazard, who is already on €15m a season at Chelsea.

Eden Hazard recently told BeIN Sports that “Real is everyone’s dream” although he also went on to say “but the blue jersey suits me well so it does not bother me if I stay.”

Real Madrid, on the other hand, consider Eden Hazard as “Plan B”, according to MARCA, as their priority is Paris Saint Germain’s Neymar. However, MARCA also reports that Real Madrid realise the difficulty to land the Brazilian forward, as he joined PSG only last season in a world record deal.
