Kylian Mbappe amazed to know Lionel Messi monitored him during European golden shoe race

Kylian Mbappe amazed after knowing that Lionel Messi kept a tab on his goals during the last European Golden boot race which Argentine won.

Kylian Mbappe is definitely a generational talent, no player of his age even comes near to his abilities. He is so good that now he is a threat to Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

It has been deemed that the French International will take over the throne of the best player once both Messi and Ronaldo decide to hang on the boots.

But on the other hand, even Mbappe is a young admirer of Messi and Ronaldo, whom he used to see on television 3-4 years ago. Thus, even today, Mbappe gets surprised when he closely contests either of the two.

Mbappe’s exploits in the Ligue 1 lasts season allowed him to give a hard battle to Messi for the European golden boot award, the 32-year-old won his sixth award after scoring 36 goals in La Liga.

It surpassed Mbappe’s Ligue 1 tally by three. But it has been revealed by Mbappe that he got to know from Ousmane Dembele that Barcelona legend saw his goals during the golden boot race.

“Instead of just putting my head under the covers and waiting calmly for the end of the season, I was trying to outdo myself. I saw that I could maybe win the top goalscorer in Europe award. But, facing off against me, was Messi.” said Mbappe to France football magazine.

“I would score twice on a weekend, he would go and score three. I would score three, he would score four! It was so crazy that I spoke with Ousmane (Dembele) about it.”

“‘This is crazy! Is he doing this on purpose?’ He responded to me: ‘Of course, he is looking at you!’ I said to myself: ‘Ah, not bad, Messi is watching me…’ It is flattering to see that such a player is not overlooking you.”

However, this season neither of Messi and Mbappe is leading the race this season, Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski with 19 goals and RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner with 18 goals are leading the race, followed by Lazio Ciro Immobile (17) and RB Salzburg’s Erling Haaland (16).
