Barcelona look to complete their fourth summer signing, as they target the Valencia captain.

Spanish champions Barcelona have been busy in the transfer market. They have completed three signings already. Those include Clement Lenglet from Sevilla, Arthur Melo from Gremio and Malcom for Bordeaux.

The Catalans are now looking to build on their midfield. They haven’t been able to find Xavi’s successor, although Ivan Rakitic has done beautifully to fill his boots. However, they’d be hoping to find Iniesta’s successor due to the options available in the market.

Paul Pogba, N’Golo Kante and Eden Hazard are just the handful of several names that they’ve been linked with to replace the outgoing captain.

Another new player on their scanning system is Spanish midfielder Dani Parejo. The Valencia captain is a fantastic option in the eyes of many. There is no unanimity about his signing about the board of directors. Yet, Ernesto Valverde is a huge fan of the 29 year old and is considering him as a genuine target.

Parejo was a graduate of Real Madrid’s world famous academy- La Fabrica. He went on to make a few appearances for the Los Blancos in the 2008/09, but moved on to Getafe for better opportunities to start regularly. Valencia, his current owners signed him for just €6 million from El Geta.

Since his association with the Los Che, he has been fabulous. A regular since his first season, Dani Parejo has notched 211 appearances for Valencia. In the process, he has scored 37 times. He also has one national cap under his belt.

If he is able to continue his Valencia exploits with Barcelona, he will be a great asset for the Catalans. However, the Catalans will be extremely careful about how they handle their signings and finances. Paulinho and Andre Gomes are recent examples of flops who were burdened with huge expectations. The former returned to China while the latter is also looking out.
