Barcelona injury update

Barcelona injury update: The injury crisis has deepened for Barcelona as Rafinha has reportedly been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Barcelona salvaged a draw against Atletico Madrid through a late equaliser from Ousmane Dembele. The Frenchman scored in the 90th minute of the game to give the side a point at Wanda Metropolitano.

With this draw, Barcelona have now slipped to 2nd position in the league table as Sevilla secured three points against Real Valladolid in their weekend game. Barca are now a point behind Sevilla, but remain five points ahead of arch-rivals Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, Barcelona suffer another setback as their two stars were confirmed injured after the game against Atletico Madrid.

Here is a detailed report on the same:

Barcelona injury update:

It has been reported by Diario Sport that Rafinha is ruled out for the rest of the season due to a serious injury in his knee. Rafinha played through the pain and completed the game, but the extent of his injury was not known until he was assessed after the match.

It was found out that the player had torn the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee.

The Brazilian star will require a surgery and it is unlikely that he will return to action before the end of the season. Rafinha made a comeback from another long injury layoff in December 2017.

Another Barcelona star, Sergi Roberto is also ruled out for 3-4 weeks with a hamstring issue.

Ivan Rakitic, meanwhile, trained with the squad on the eve of the game against Atletico Madrid. The midfielder is expected to play a part in the Champions League game against PSV Eindhoven this week.

Barcelona are at the top of their Champions League group and a win would guarantee them a spot in the round-of-16 of the tournament. In the league, however, Barcelona are second, and also face a tough challenge from Atletico Madrid, who are only a point behind them at 3rd place.
