Barcelona Transfer News: Ernesto Valverde to sell seven players including Philippe Coutinho

Ernesto Valverde will sell seven players in the summer transfer window.

Barcelona are preparing to revamp their squad in the summer transfer window. The Blaugrana were able to lift the La Liga, but consecutive disappointments in Champions League and Copa Del Rey has infuriated the supporters. As a result, the Nou Camp faithful are demanding new signings to push the squad to another level and compete in multiple tournaments.

Valverde wants Antoine Griezmann and Matthijs De Ligt at the club, but they would want to balance the book by selling some of their players in the summer transfer window. Seven outgoings are bound to happen at Nou Camp in the summer window, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Philippe Coutinho, who has endured a difficult spell since joining Barcelona from Liverpool has been included in the shortlist. He is not finding his old mojo at Nou Camp, and is open to moving elsewhere. He will be joined by Andre Gomes. The Portuguese International was one of the standout players for Everton in the last season.

The Blues want to buy him for a fee of 30 million, but Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur are also coy on him. Barcelona will be able to recoup at least 35 million for the midfielder. Jasper Cillessen is reportedly considering his future and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants him to replace David De Gea at Old Trafford.

Malcom has struggled for game time since his move to Spain last summer. The Brazilian still attracts Roma’s hierarchy. Denis Suarez was on loan at Arsenal till the end of the season, but he never showed his potential. Albeit his poor form, Barcelona can expect suitors for him.

Rafinha has ruptured his knee earlier this season and has not played a part since. His contract ends in the summer and will be a free agent. Marc Cucurella has spent a year on loan at Eibar and he is likely to move out on a permanent basis.

Here’s how Twitter has reacted..

What’s next?

Barcelona are expected to spend heavily after the signing of Frenkie De Jong. Antoine Griezmann and Matthijs De Ligt are anticipated to follow the midfielder to Nou Camp in the summer transfer window. Philippe Coutinho will yield the most from the sale.
