Barcelona News: Gerard Pique deliberately picks up a yellow card against Sevilla last night, in order to not miss El Clasico at Nou Camp.
Barcelona thrashed Sevilla in last night’s encounter in La Liga after netting four goals at Nou Camp, making Barcelona secure three points in style. The Catalan giants seem to pick up form after an initial dry spell.
This is the fourth successive win by Barcelona in all competitions, and with Lionel Messi back in service, the Blaugranas look even more lethal. It is explainable after what Barcelona did with Sevilla last night.
Now, Barcelona is in a contest with Real Madrid over the league title and El Clasico, a crucial fixture to determine the winner is closing near in schedule, as it is set to be played on the 10th game-week of La Liga.
Meanwhile, some reports suggest that Gerard pique has deliberately taken a yellow card against Sevilla, in order to play in the upcoming El Clasico clash on 26th October.
Pique was set to serve a suspension if he had picked up a yellow card, as he had already collected 4 yellow cards in the previous matches and his last night’s card makes it 5th. Hence, he is now obligated to miss the match against Eibar as a suspension.

Thus, many are accusing the Spanish defender of deliberately picking it up because if he had played against Eibar, he could have picked a card over there and might have missed the match against Real Madrid, and with Samuel Umtiti injured, Ernesto Valverde would have been forced to start Jean-Clair Todibo.
Todibo is still at his developing years, and could not be risked against Barcelona’s biggest rivals, thus it could be a well-planned strategy by Barcelona’s management.
On the other hand, Barcelona saw several cards last night, as Ousmane Dembele and Ronald Araujo were given a red card in the final minutes of the game, bringing Barcelona to nine men on the field.
