Barcelona manager responds to rumours about Sergio Roberto’s departure
FC Barcelona have finally responded to the rumours of Sergio Roberto’s departure from Barcelona this summer.
With the Premier League season finally upon us, managers all over the country will be keenly watching their team’s performances over the next couple of matches.
In case somethings are not going to plan, he transfer window provides teams with an opportunity to make a few additions to squad, before the the deadline ends this month.
One such manager would be Jose Mourinho. The United boss is under pressure to perform this season, as he is expected to at least challenge for the title this season.
After a disappointing sixth place finish last year, United will be looking to perform much better this time around, after they invested heavily in their squad this summer.
Mourinho considers him an extremely versatile player who could prove to be very useful in the season. Jose also knows that Roberto has a 40 million release clause, which is quite reasonable in today’s market.
Sergio is currently not in the starting line up for Barca, after he was displaced by summer signing Nelson Samedo. His future is in limbo right now, which makes him an even more attractive player to buy.
But this is what Barcelona’s manager, Valverde had to say when asked about the Catalan midfielder.
“Of course yes, I am absolutely counting on him.”
“Will he be a starter? Yes.”
“In some games he will be a major player and in some games no, but he remains an important player.”
