The Catalan club has triggered its transfer activities after Antoine Griezmann decides to stay at Atletico Madrid.
FC Barcelona received a major blow earlier this month when Antoine Griezmann decided to stay at Atletico Madrid. The French forward had been heavily linked with a move to the Catalan club, however the deal didn’t go through. It was almost a deja vu situation in Griezmann’s career, as Manchester United were at the receiving end in an almost similar transfer saga last summer.
Barca is now showing urgency in the transfer market, and is already close on signing youngster Frenkie de Jong and Mexican winger Hirving Lozano. The latest in the transfer list, according to AS, is Manchester City’s youngster Gabriel Jesus.
Jesus has been a revelation for Manchester City ever since his arrival from Brazil, and has been a key member of the City squad as they became the first Premier League team to reach 100 points. The Brazilian has naturally attracted interest from European heavyweights, and Barcelona is the latest among them.
Jesus has been used in various positions by Pep Guardiola for Manchester City, however he’s naturally a forward. AS has reported that Barcelona are interested in signing Gabriel Jesus, and have made an enquiry for the player. However, the club realises that it is near to impossible because of City’s status of non-seller for the player.
Gabriel Jesus is currently with Brazilian national team as he chases World Cup glory in Russia. The Brazilian has played a key role in the group stage matches for Brazil, as they topped the group. The South American side will now play Mexico in the round-of-16.
