The announcement, which has been made on the Dutch youngster’s social media accounts, comes as something of a shock. Simons is considered to be one of the hottest prospects within the famed La Masia academy system.

However, he refused to extend his stay at the Catalan Club, and would be going to the French giants on a free transfer. As of now, PSG’s plan with Simons are unknown.

The Dutch Sensation has gained fame after being phenomenal with the his academy side Juvenil B, and have aroused interests from several clubs, as he is about to reach to a mature age to play at the top level.

It is surprising for the Blaugranas, as the club tipped him as the next big thing in the football world, but the 16-year-old teenager opted a different route.

In further speculations, it is being rumoured that PSG signing Xavi Simons is a kind of revenge after Barcelona signed the English youngster Louie Barry ahead of them earlier this window.

Nevertheless, Barcelona already have a long list of young defenders in the contest of getting the first team squad. Hence, the Dutch midfielder probably would have opted to try other lucrative prospects.
