Lionel Messi’s goal in the second half remained the sole difference between the two sides as Barcelona secured another La Liga title.
Barcelona cruised to their second consecutive La Liga title with a 1-0 win over Levante earlier tonight.
Lionel Messi scored in the 62nd minute of the game as his goal remained the sole difference between the two sides. The Catalan side has won the La Liga with three games to spare.
Messi came on as a substitute in the second half and inspired a significant change in the tempo of the game, as Barcelona began to dominate Levante and create more opportunities in the second half.
The side was finally rewarded when a Lionel Messi converted the chance to score the only goal of the game. Levante created further opportunities but failed to pose a significant challenge to Barcelona’s defence and goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
While Barcelona will lift the La Liga title, they still have a lot to play for in this season. The Catalan giants have reached the semifinal of the Champions League for the first time in four years and will aim to secure a treble, as they will take on Valencia in the final of the Copa del Rey.
Here’s how Twitter reacted as Barcelona retained the La Liga title:

Messi came off the bench to open the scoring for @FCBarcelona. He has a goal scoring ratio as a substitute of almost a goal every other game 36/78. Better than a lot of top strikers that start. Think about that for a moment. 🤷🏻♂️

Barcelona are champions of Spain for the 26th time & the eighth time in 11 years. Messi’s goal seals it against Levante and brings up 10 league titles for the Argentine, more than any other player in the club’s history.
