BCCI invites applicants for head coach of Team India

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has decided to invite applicants, for the post of the head coach of the Indian cricket team. Anil Kumble, the current coach of Team India, has a contract which will run until the end of the ICC Champions Trophy. After the tournament, the head honchos of the board will look for a new coach, as the BCCI invites applicants for head coach of Team India.

The BCCI has also decided to give Kumble a spot among the shortlisted candidates. Kumble will then be allowed to put his case forward, as he wishes to continue in his position as the head coach.

In a media release, the BCCI has said that they wish to have ” a fair and transparent selection process”. The final decision will taken by mutual consent between the Committee of Administrators and the Cricket Advisory Committee. The Cricket Advisory Committee comprises of Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly and VVS Laxman.

The legendary trio said that the BCCI wishes to conduct interviews and seek presentations to select the best possible candidate to guide the team and take Indian cricket forward.

Anil Kumble was offered the role of head coach on June 23 2016, for a one year period. He has overseen one of the best home seasons in India’s cricket history, as Team India swept all comers aside.

Kumble has also seen the rise of India in the test overs format, as India now stands as the best test side in the world. Many player have also vouched for him, as they believe that Kumble has played a major role in their recent success.
