The Curious Case of Luke Harper

Luke Harper, The former Wyatt family member has not featured on TV for almost a year. He had to undergo wrist surgery after losing the SmackDown Tag Team titles to The New Day on the SmackDown after last years SummerSlam. His only appearance since then was on the Wrestlemania Pre-Show, as a participant in the Andre the Giant memorial Battle Royale.

Harper took to Twitter where he issued a statement saying he had been cleared since February 6, but had yet to be programed back into television. After WrestleMania,

Harper wrestled against EC3 in a dark match before an episode of SmackDown Live. It was reported that Vince McMahon did not like the match, so he canceled creative plans for Harper including a feud with Sami Zayn.

Frustrated with not being used, the wrestler asked for his release. However, his request was denied by McMahon. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter later reported that while Harper’s contract originally expired in November 2019, the WWE have added six months to it, owing to the time he missed due to injury.

Archie is a WWE and UFC Editor/Author at the SportsRush. Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
