Canelo Alvarez, the Mexican boxing tycoon, has been in the headlines lately for all the negative reasons. Alvarez lashed out at the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi on Twitter, suggesting that the latter disrespected the Mexican flag.
The Mexican boxer posted a stream of tweets on his account after Argentina defeated Mexico in FIFA World Cup Qatar 2023. In the tweet, Alvarez posted a video of Messi accidentally kicking the Mexican jersey.
However, many Messi fans clapped back at the champion boxer for his lesser football knowledge. One of them was Lionel Messi’s former teammate and long-time friend Sergio Kun Aguero.
Sergio Aguero claims Canelo Alvarez sent him a foul voice note
The Argentine former took to his official Twitter account and defended Messi. He sent out a tweet bashing Canelo Alvarez for threatening the Argentina captain. He also added that Alvarez doesn’t have football knowledge.
Subsequently, the Mexican boxer responded in a harsh manner. He clapped back at the former Argentina player and called him a hypocrite. However, that wasn’t it. In a recent interview, Aguero revealed Alvarez sent him a voice not on WhatsApp and used foul language.
Sergio Aguero has revealed that Canelo Alvarez sent him an angry voice note during the Lionel Messi feud: "Do you know how much I s*** myself? When I saw my WhatsApp and I read *Canelo Audio Message* I said, 'Oh s***'. He told me, 'You s***head, I liked you, asshole.'"

“He sent me an audio… do you know the s*** he had? When I see Whatsapp and read, ‘Canelo, audio message,’ I said to myself, ‘Oh mother!’ He told me: ‘Damn s**, I liked you, a***,’ I replied: ‘Mr. Canelo, it seems to me that you are wrong. You don’t know Leo. At no time is he stepping on the Mexico shirt.’ He said, ‘You’re wrong.’ and he told me to respect his opinion,” Aguero said. (H/T: Daily Mail)
Alvarez apologized to Messi
After a mild backlash from the fans and even the Mexican football players, Alvarez released he was a bit impulsive with his response. Owing to his mistake, the Mexican boxer took to Twitter and apologized to the Argentina captain.

In the tweet, Alvarez stated that he got carried away because of his love for his country and admitted that his words were out of place. He also added that it was a lesson for him.
