BREAKING: MS Dhoni comments on the India-Pakistan rivalry
MS Dhoni is currently enjoying his off-time with the Indian army in Kashmir, speaking to army officials and also giving some pertinent advice to aspiring cricketers in the valley.
Having retired from Test Cricket, MS Dhoni has been using a lot of his off time to indulge in activities that he is passionate about, and his love for the Indian army is very well known.
Dhoni was asked about the India-Pakistan rivalry, which he very fondly termed as ‘something that was more than cricket’.
Dhoni acknowledged the fact that the India-Pakistan rivalry was governed by the nature of politics between the two nations, and how the game could not exist in silos.
“In cricketing terms, India versus Pakistan is a much bigger affair than just the bat-and-ball contest. It’s not an easy decision to make for the players, the officials have to make a diplomatic and political decision. People often say sports and politics shouldn’t cross paths, but when it comes to cricket, no matter if it’s a bilateral series or a big tournament, cricket generates a lot of income and it eventually contributes to the Indian economy,” Dhoni said.
Dhoni then added that BCCI will have to respect the government’s decision with respect to India-Pakistan series, as political ties between the two countries are not at their best at the moment.
“Playing with Pakistan in this present situation is not an easy task and no matter what the Government says, we will respect it. If they don’t want us to play cricket against Pakistan, we will respect it.” Dhoni concluded.
