Why was Frank Lampard Sacked from Chelsea : There was clearly more than just dwindling results transpiring in the backdrop to lead to Lampard’s dismissal
Relieved of his duties as Chelsea manager on Monday, Frank Lampard finally saw the worst unfold for him. After two months of horrendous results, ones which had sent the club plummet all the way down into 9th spot, it was only a matter of time before Roman Abramovich decided to wield the axe on Lampard’s tenure.
However, ever since his removal as the club’s manager, inside details have emerged alluding towards a bevy of reasons behind Lampard being asked to leave the London based club. A report in The Athletic has gone onto reveal how Lampard’s persistent badgering of the club for Declan Rice played a critical role in his firing.
Along with that, his handling of the players, an ineptness when it came to tactical issues and Kepa’s angst all accrued over this season to see Chelsea run out of patience with the manager.
Reasons Which Lead To Lampard Being Relieved Off His Duties
Declan Rice Pursuit Saw Relationship With Marina Breakdown
Frank Lampard’s relationship with influential director Marina Granovskaia deteriorated across the course of the ongoing season.
Frank Lampard’s plan was to sign West Ham’s Declan Rice and Burnley’s James Tarkowski to ‘reshape the defense.
Fikayo Tomori, Marcos Alonso, and Antonio Rudiger were earmarked to leave, with Lampard also open to the idea of Cesar Azpilicueta leaving.
All of those players stayed, which was a major factor why Rice and Tarkowski weren’t signed. Marina Granovskaia wasn’t too keen on Tarkowski either.
Kepa’s Part In The Sacking
Chelsea clashed with Frank Lampard over Kepa Arrizabalaga. Lampard put in a request for a replacement for Kepa, but was told he should try putting his arm around the Spaniard.
Kepa was one of a number of senior players who felt that Lampard did not provide him with clear tactical instructions or offer sufficient support as his confidence disintegrated last season.
Squad Loses Faith In Lampard
Some players complained about lack of tactical instruction and not being spoken to for months.
The dressing room felt manager showed no empathy and were hurt by his public criticism
One Chelsea backroom staff member told some players: “Don’t worry, this will all be over in a couple of weeks.”
Inability To Manage Players
What happened with Marcos Alonso at West Brom after he was substituted and left the ground “raised a red flag in terms of Frank Lampard being able to control the dressing room”.
Dwindling Form
Slipping to ninth place in the points tally after winning just one of their last six clashes in the league didn’t help Lampard’s cause either. Roman Abramovich was said to be livid after Leicester City’s 2-0 routing of Chelsea with Lampard set to have accepted his time at the club was up ensuing the defeat.
Ralf Rangnick was offered interim job last week for four months but turned it down.
Calls were made in recent weeks to sound out Leipzig’s Julian Nagelsmann.
Petr Cech involved in talking to new stars’ agents as form dipped.
Thomas Tuchel is all set to replace Lampard as the club’s next manager.
