Chelsea Lead Race To Sign Sergio Aguero With The Striker Preferring A Stay In The Premier League

The London based club has once again reignited its interest in Aguero

After failing to sign Sergio Aguero after John Terry poured cold water over the potential transfer, Chelsea could finally end up landing their man a multitude of seasons later.

Aguero who is set to step down from his current club Manchester City is in the process of finding a new employer for himself. The news of City partying ways with him was broken last week with the club deciding not to hand Aguero an extension on his current deal.

And despite solid interest from the likes of Barcelona, PSG and Juventus, the striker is said to be preferring a move in the Premier League itself. Well acclimatised with life in England and well versed with the league, Aguero is keen to continue is career in the marquee league itself.

Its given Chelsea an edge over their adversaries with the Premier League side said to be currently leading the race to sign the striker. Chelsea are said to be monitoring Aguero’s situation for a couple of months now with Thomas Tuchel keen to add firepower to his attack force.

Timo Werner’s current shambolic miss against Macedonia is bound to have only furthered Tuchel’s resolve to add reinforcements to his striker’s docket. The misfiring German has far from turned out to be the buy Chelsea thought they were getting to see Chelsea once again turn towards the market.

Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta most recently spoke about Aguero as he ruled out any move by Arsenal for the striker.

“No, no, no… we will see what happens with him in the future.”

“Anybody that has been close to Sergio would say the same thing,” said Arteta as he talked about Aguero changing the face of football in the league.

“He has probably been the main face or one of the three main faces that has lifted that project.

“You need some leadership, some quality, players to create moments to start to build a project like they did and Sergio is probably the biggest face on that project.

“It is not only the way in which he plays his charisma, personality and the way he is. He is loved by everybody at the club.

“It is sad to see someone leaving like him but I think what he has done there he will be in the history.”
