Chelsea line up vs Southampton: The Blues will be hoping to carry their good form into this away trip to Southampton before the international break.
Chelsea will travel to the South Coast to take on Southampton at St. Marys Stadium on Sunday. It has been a slow start to the season for both sides, who are hoping to register three points before the international break.
The hosts have won only twice, with seven points on the table from the opening seven games. On the other hand, the Blues have slowly started to find their feet, as they sit seventh with eleven points on the Premier League table.
Ralph Hassenhuttl’s side has won only twice since the kickstart of the season. They have won only once in their last four games and they will be expected to gain something out of the game against Chelsea because of their current situation. Their home form is a worry as they have lost two and drawn only once.
Since the defeat to Liverpool two weeks back, Chelsea have won three games in all competitions on a bounce. They breezed past Brighton and got over the line against Lille in the Premier League and Champions League respectively. Frank Lampard’s methodology is slowing paying off as the attractive football is gaining results week in week out.
Chelsea are anticipated to better their opponents on Sunday, but the intimidating atmosphere at St. Marys could change the game.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Emerson Palmieri, Antonio Rudiger, and Marco van Ginkel are the absentees through injury for this clash.
There are no suspensions for Frank Lampard and Chelsea.
Chelsea: Kepa Arrizabalaga, Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen, Fikayo Tomori, Marcos Alonso, Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, Pedro, Tammy Abraham.
