Chelsea Lineup vs Lille: Chelsea will be hoping to bounce back against Lille aiming for their first victory.
Chelsea will take on Lille in the second game week of the Champions League at Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Wednesday.
It will be a compelling contest as both the sides will aiming for victories to elevate their group stage spot. The Blues were undone by a strike from Rodrigo at Stamford Bridge two weeks before, while their opponents were hammered 3-0 by Ajax in the opening game week of the European elite competition.
The French outfit have started their season decently with four victories out of eight. They have also drawn two and sit fourth in the Ligue 1 table. Youngster Victor Osimhen has been their standout player with six goals and two assists from eight appearances this season – making life tougher for the opponent defence. They are susceptible in the backline and the same can be said for Chelsea.
Frank Lampard’s philosophy is taking shape at Stamford Bridge at a slow and steady rate. The Blues faced a massive defeat in the hands of Manchester United during the opening weekend of the Premier League, but they have not looked back – winning three and drawing two in the process. Their defence is not at their best, although they have the tendency to hold the ball in the midfield department.
Going into this huge clash in what might be a six-pointer, both the sides will be hoping for nothing short of a victory to progress to the knockout rounds of the competition. Chelsea are seen as favourites, although it could change because of the hosts, who like to take the game to their opposition.
INJURIES
Frank Lampard spoke about the importance of N’Golo Kante in the current Chelsea side. The France International is likely to be eased back into the starting eleven rather than getting rushed back from an ankle injury. Antonio Rudiger and Ruben Loftus Cheek are the absentees, while the fitness of Emerson remains a doubt.
SUSPENSIONS
There are no suspensions for Chelsea and Frank Lampard.
