Chelsea News: Fans love the celebration between Michy Batshuayi and Christian Pulisic after Chelsea’s 4th goal vs Southampton yesterday.
Chelsea have exceeded all expectations this season. It was rumoured that new Chelsea boss Frank Lampard’s only target this season was to avoid relegation. A far cry from the pressure usually associated with the job.
Instead, however, the club look well poised to easily end up in the top 4 like they did last season and perhaps achieve even more. Despite the slow start, Chelsea are now looking like a well-oiled machine and are now in 5th position but find themselves only 2 points behind 2nd place Manchester City.
The young team have played so well that players such as Christian Pulisic and Michy Batshuayi have been reduced to the bench. With their opportunities limited so far, rumors of Pulisic considering his future have begun doing the rounds. However, looking at the pair celebrate Chelsea’s 4th goal yesterday has made many think otherwise.
Batshayi and Pulisic’s special celebration
Batshuayi replaced Tammy Abraham with 6 minutes left in the match. The Belgian striker scored almost immediately through an assist from fellow substitute Christian Pulisic to add to Southampton’s misery. The pair who have played together at Dortmund too, then celebrated the goal with a handshake of their own.
It is heartening to see both players celebrate with such passion and happiness despite struggling for minutes under Lampard. This is proof that playing for Chelsea means a lot to them. The pair may or may not look for a way out of the club in the future. However, at the moment it is evident that they would rather fight for their spot in the XI and take every opportunity that knocks their door.
