Chelsea News Frank Lampard at loggerheads with his board over the future of Kepa

Chelsea News: Frank Lampard at loggerheads with his board over the future of Kepa following his poor performance this season.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard and his board are set to clash once again regarding the issue of a transfer. However, unlike an incoming transfer to the Stamford Bridge that didn’t happen, this time, it pertains to an outgoing one.

Lampard is keen to offload Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga in the summer according to The Mirror. Some of the names rumoured to be on his wishlist to replace Kepa are Crystal Palace’s Vicente Guaita and Burnley’s Nick Pope.

However, Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia is against the idea. She wants the club to persist with the keeper a little longer before giving up on him. Granovskia, personally pushed the deal that made Kepa the most expensive keeper in the world 2 years ago and is in no mood to make a loss on the player.

Chelsea Underdogs

With Lampard openly speaking on his disappointment at Chelsea not making any transfers in January a few days back; even going to the extent of calling the Blues underdogs now, it is likely that he is in for yet another clash with the board heading into the summer.

“Look at Manchester United signing a big, big player, a world class player in my opinion,” Lampard said. “And the teams around us, Sheffield United making fantastic signings. Chris Wilder’s job is incredible because he’s had years to work that group and now they’re adding where he sees fit.

“Tottenham have signed a few, and they’re not far behind us. And not only have they signed a few, but a couple of players have left where they were towards the end of their contracts and maybe weren’t happy being at the club. Sometimes that’s as important as bringing players in.

“This is not to talk ourselves down, because we’re six points clear in fourth, [but] now we probably become the underdogs … because the teams around us have strengthened.”

Lampard gave Willy Cabellero a chance to displace Kepa from the starting 11 in their recent Premier League match. However, Cabellero failed to shine in the 2-2 draw against Leicester, continuing Chelsea’s woes at the back.
