Cheteshwar Pujara trolled

Cheteshwar Pujara trolled: Fans on Twitter have brutally trolled the Indian batsman for his decision to not walk after being wrongly given not-out.

It seems as if India batsman Cheteshwar Pujara is unlikely to find respite any soon after his decision to not walk against Karnataka in the second semi-final of the ongoing season of the Ranji Trophy costed them the match.

The 31-year old cricketer has been severely criticized for standing his ground as umpire Saiyed Khalid ruled the decision in his favour. The fact that the act happened twice in the match (once in both innings) made the fans boil with anger.

Coming in to bat at No. 4 in the second innings, Pujara walked in to bat with shouts of ‘Cheater Cheater’ in the background. Known for his resolute, grit and unperturbed focus, Pujara didn’t let all of it affect his batting.

Instead, he scored his 49th First-class hundred, propelling his team to chase a 279-run target after Saurashtra were reduced to 23-3 in the sixth over. Coming on the back of multiple rescue acts for India down under, Pujara put on display another one with Saurashtra middle-order batsman Sheldon Jackson.

The duo put together a match-winning 214-run stand for the fourth wicket, bringing the team within winning distance. While Jackson (100) got bowled by Karnataka pacer R Vinay Kumar after scoring his 16th First-class century, Pujara scored ended up scoring 131* (266) with the help of 17 fours as Saurashtra won the match by 5 wickets.

A day after the match got over, Pujara uploaded a photo with his wife on his official Twitter account. In which was unexpected, Pujara received a lot of flak for him not walking on the post.

Walking for a batsman in such a situation is a personal decision, it being moral or not is something which will always remain in the grey area. Fans mocking Pujara speaks highly about the fickle-mindedness of people for it were the same fans who were wax lyrical about the same Pujara when he was declared ‘Man of the Series’ in Australia earlier this month.
