After a disappointing opening day loss to Burnely at home, Antonio Conte managed to turn things around as his team went away to Tottenham and earned a vital victory.

With the transfer window closing in the next few days, Conte is eager to splurge the money and bring in a raft of players, starting with Arsenal’s Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain.

The 24-year old has had an inconsistent run over the last few years, as injuries have played spoil sport. The versatile player found a new lease of life when he started playing as a full back in Arsenal’s newly deployed formation.

Chamberlain was one of Arsenal’s best players at the end of last season, as he played a pivitol role in Arsenal’s FA Cup triumph. Although he wants to play in center midfield, the Ox has been regularly deployed out wide due to his pace.

With only one year left to go in his contract, the Ox is seemingly not interested in signing another deal with the club, as he wishes to have a fresh start else where.

This is what Wenger had to say about the Ox,

“I want him to stay and be one of the big players of the future of this club,” he said. “He is one of the players this team has to be built around. I want him to commit to the club and to be one of the carrier of the values of our team.

“I think we invested a lot of time, confidence and money on players like Alex, who we bought at a young age. For me, they have a responsibility for the future of this club because Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be one of the big English players in the coming years. I personally am highly determined to keep him here.”

Chamberlain’s versatility, age and English status makes him very appealing to the Chelsea manager who is keen on adding more home grown players to his squad. But with Wenger being so adamant about not selling him, it will be a difficult deal to complete.
