Abu Dhabi T10 League: Nicholas Pooran's whirlwind knock powers Northern Warriors to 30-run win vs Bangla Tigers

Nicholas Pooran’s whirlwind knock: The captain of Warriors led from the front to play a game-changing knock tonight.

During the 11th match of the ongoing fourth season of the T10 League between Bangla Tigers and Northern Warriors in Abu Dhabi, Northern Warriors captain Nicholas Pooran played a whirlwind innings to power his team to a 30-run victory.

After Bangla Tigers captain Andre Fletcher won the toss and invited Warriors to bat first, his decision backfired as Pooran led from the front to power his team to a match-winning total of 162/4 in 10 overs.

Coming in to bat at No. 3 in the second over, Pooran only played three deliveries before hitting his first six off Tigers pacer George Garton. Not wanting to waste any time in a format which doesn’t allow the same, the southpaw hit Qais Ahmed for a four and three sixes in the next over.

With Warriors scoring 74/1 at the halfway mark, Pooran played a vital role in his team scoring 68 runs in the next three overs to gain a substantial lead in the match.

While Pooran hit three consecutive sixes off Mohammad Irfan in the sixth over, he smashed a couple of sixes and a four off Mujeeb Ur Rahman’s following over to register a 17-ball half-century.

However, it was in the eighth over that Pooran wreaked havoc by hitting Garton for four sixes and two fours to accumulate 32 runs. The 25-year old player eventually scored 89 (26) with the help of three fours and 12 sixes at a whopping strike rate of 342.31.
