CSK vs RR Man of the Match today: Who was awarded the Man of the Match in Super Kings vs Royals IPL 2021 match?

CSK vs RR Man of the Match: The all-rounder from Chennai Super Kings contributed across departments at the Wankhede Stadium.

During the 12th match of the ongoing 14th season of the Indian Premier League between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai, Chennai Super Kings beat Rajasthan Royals by 45 runs to register their second victory this season.

Chasing a 189-run target, Rajasthan could only manage 143/9 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Barring opening batsman Jos Buttler scoring 49 (35) with the help of five fours and two sixes, no other Rajasthani batsman gave the impression of being in control with the bat in hand.

With bowling figures of 3-0-7-3, Super Kings all-rounder Moeen Ali was the pick of their bowlers. In addition to the off-spinner, fellow all-rounders in Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja also dismissed a couple of batsmen each tonight.

Ali, who picked his career-best IPL figures at the Wankhede Stadium, sent back the likes of David Miller (2), Riyan Parag (3) and Chris Morris (0). Batting at No. 3 in the first innings, the 33-year old player had scored 26 (20) comprising of a four and two sixes to contribute across departments.

Having commenced his career at CSK with a bang, Ali was awarded ‘Man of the Match’ for his dual contribution. It is worth mentioning that Chennai had acquired Ali’s services for INR 7 crore earlier this year.

“No. 3 [Dawid Malan] is currently the No. 1 player in the world [at England]. My job is to score as many runs here. It’s just the way I play. I don’t try and over-hit the ball. It was nice, it wasn’t an easy wicket. It was quite difficult initially. The three wickets – it depends on when you come on to bowl.

“It was a fantastic time for me to come on to bowl, there were two left-handers. I have a rough idea, one the left-hander came in, I thought I’d be bowling. I’m always ready. The ball changed and that was a bit drier, that helped. I think it was a good wicket to bowl for both teams,” Ali told Star Sports during the post-match presentation ceremony.
