Subramaniam Badrinath on Chris Morris: The former Indian batsman didn’t seem to find logic in Chris Morris break an all-time auction record.

Former Indian batsman Subramaniam Badrinath isn’t impressed with Rajasthan Royals spending a record-breaking INR 16.25 crore on South Africa all-rounder Chris Morris.
Morris, who was released by Royal Challengers Bangalore ahead of this auction and has played for Royals in the past, was surely expected to find a buyer but him breaking an all-time auction record was unimaginable.
Morris, who hasn’t played competitive cricket since IPL 2020 and hasn’t represented South Africa for almost two years now, surprised one and all with the amount of interest Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings showed in him.
For someone with a base price of INR 75 lakhs, an exponential growth of this extent has left behind the previous record held by former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh (INR 16 crore).

Given the price which he has earned, Morris was bound to allure opinions from the cricketing fraternity around the world. While a lot of them have expressed surprise, Badrinath didn’t feel shy to write the word “overpriced”.

Apart from Morris, Badrinath was also amazed by Karnataka all-rounder earning as much as INR 9.25 crore. Been released by Punjab Kings, Gowtham will now play under former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni at Chennai Super Kings.
