Delhi Capitals had a worst possible start to their Indian Premier League 2023 campaign after losing five matches in a row. However, they have made a strong comeback since then by winning four of their last five games. They are still alive in the league phase courtesy of their great form lately.

The absence of regular captain Rishabh Pant disturbed the whole balance of the side. They could not figure out a permanent wicket-keeper in the first few matches. However, England’s Phil Salt’s addition has solved that problem for the Capitals. Salt is looking great at the top of the order and his partnership with skipper David Warner has worked wonders for the team.
Pacer Ishant Sharma has also looked great with the ball. The failure of the batting department was the biggest reason behind Delhi’s struggles. In the last match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, they used all of their four overseas players to strengthen the batting department.
Delhi Capitals Playoffs Chances
Capitals have won four out of their 10 matches and they are at the bottom position with eight points to their name. If DC manage to win their remaining four matches, they will finish at 16 points which are generally enough to qualify for playoffs in the IPL. In the worst-case scenario, more than four teams can finish at 16 points and NRR (Net Run Rate) will play a part then.
On the other hand, if they win three of their last four matches, they will finish at 14 points. At 14 points, they will have to rely on other teams’ results. There are no chances of qualification with 12 points.
Delhi’s biggest issue is their NRR at the moment which is -0.529 (worst among all teams). As a result, Warner and his men will also be looking towards bettering their NRR in addition to winning matches.
Delhi Capitals Upcoming IPL 2023 Matches
Capitals’ upcoming fixtures are quite interesting. They will face just two teams in their next four matches, i.e., Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings. Tonight’s game against the Super Kings is very important for the team and, looking at their recent form, they will be confident of a victory.
