The toss for the 28th match of the ongoing 16th season of the Indian Premier League between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders at the Arun Jaitley Stadium has been delayed due to rainfall in the national capital.

Originally scheduled to happen at 07:00 PM (local time), less than 60 minutes were left for the toss when rainfall started to pour over Delhi NCR. A sudden burst of storm, showers, lightening and hailstorm, all happening within no time on what was otherwise a hot summer day, forced the ground staff to cover both the pitch and a large part of the ground to minimize the damage.
With IPL 2023 Match 27 between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore coming to an end, weather conditions in Mohali also started to show an inclination towards storms but it didn’t affect the match in any way in another North Indian city.
Delhi Weather Today
In spite of the delay, one thing which isn’t a cause of concern at the moment is the weather forecast at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Barring a strong passing shower, there is no major prediction of rain pouring in the city tonight.
If weather portal BBC Weather is to be believed, climate will surely experience a drop with respect to the temperature. That being said, rain probability is predicted to be almost negligible for the remainder of the night (especially match hours).
Therefore, fans and all other stakeholders can expect for a delayed start on Thursday. Even if some overs are lost, Delhi’s weather shouldn’t affect the match a lot.
UPDATE: It needed a grand total of five inspections for the match officials to decide that the toss will take place at 08:15 PM. A full-fledged 20-over contest will begin at 08:30 PM.
