Australia batter Marnus Labuschagne was ecstatic after scoring an eighth Test century in the first innings of the ongoing first Test match against West Indies in Perth. More than scoring a century, Labuschagne’s ecstasy was because of scoring it front of his wife and daughter in the latter’s first visit to a cricket ground.

Labuschagne, who was able to score a Test double century for the second time in his career on the following day, has followed it with scoring another century in the second innings of the match.
Resuming from his overnight score of 3* on Day 4, Labuschagne added 101 runs to his total to complete a ninth Test century, eighth one at home, third at this venue, in 2022 and under Pat Cummins and second against West Indies.
Having looked in total control throughout the session, Labuschagne hit consecutive fours off West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite in the last over before lunch to touch the three-figure mark for the second time in the match.
Labuschagne, who scored 104* (110) with the help of 13 fours and two sixes, registered the 90th instance of a batter scoring two centuries in the same Test. 18th Australian batter to do so, Labuschagne has become only the eighth batter (third Australian) to score a double century and a century in two innings of the same Test.
Double century in both innings of a Test match
Although a couple of batters have scored a triple century and a century in the same innings of a Test match, no batter has ever scored two double centuries in the same Test.
