Ekana Sports City Lucknow Pitch Report for LSG vs MI IPL 2023 Match

The 63rd match of Indian Premier League 2023 will be played between Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians at Lucknow’s Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. This match is very important in the context of the IPL 2023 playoffs.

The Super Giants currently have 13 points in their kitty and a win in this match will take them close to a playoff spot. Wicket-keeper Nicholas Pooran proved his class in the last match, whereas the duo of all-rounder Marcus Stoinis and batter Prerak Mankad was also brilliant. The spin trio of Ravi Bishnoi, Krunal Pandya and Amit Mishra will be vital for the side.

Mumbai Indians can still lock a top-2 spot if they can win the rest couple of their matches. The bowling of the side is a big issue and they will look to add an extra spinner looking at the surface. Batter Suryakumar Yadav is in incredible form and will again carry the responsibility on his shoulders.

The pitch in Lucknow has been the toughest pitch to bat on in IPL 2023. Apart from the first match played here, the rest of the matches have been low-scoring. The opening game here was played on a red-soil track, whereas the rest of the matches have been played on wickets made of black soil.

“Don’t expect this wicket to play with much bounce in it. Won’t be a lot of bounce. Will still favour the spin,” Aaron Finch said in his pitch assessment on Star Sports ahead of the LSG vs CSK match.

This is a very slow track and the batters will again find it tough to time their shots. With a low bounce and turn available, the spinners will again dominate the proceedings. The average first innings score in six matches here has been just 143 runs. This pitch gets difficult to bat as the matches go on but still having a target in front can help the teams to set their tone.

The boundaries here are not that long and it won’t be tough to score boundaries here. With the dew factor in mind, both captains may opt to bowl upon winning the toss.
