In a video with Jio Cinema, Uthappa admitted that he would want to play for Chennai without any doubt if he has to come out of his retirement. Uthappa played just a couple of seasons for Chennai, whereas he was a part of the KKR’s setup for six long years. He uploaded a series of tweets where he also mentioned the amount of hatred he is getting nowadays.
Uthappa was bought by KKR in IPL 2014 auction for a price of INR 5 crore. Gambhir was the leader of the side back then and he used to open the innings with Uthappa. It was a golden year for the wicket-keeper batter where he won the Orange Cap in Kolkata’s title-winning campaign.

In one of his tweets, Uthappa disclosed how he felt isolated after Gambhir’s exit from the side. Gambhir was released ahead of the IPL 2018 auction and wicket-keeper Dinesh Karthik was made the new captain of the side. Interestingly, Karthik was bought by KKR in 2018 only and he was straightaway given the duty to lead the side despite having an experienced campaigner in Uthappa.
After Gauti was let go, everything changed and i felt alienated. However my love for the fans of KKR was the same and will remain the same forever. I’m forever grateful for their support and I wanna clarify that!! This isn’t about the fans of KKR. I’ll forever love and respect em
