Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis has to be one of the most charming cricketers around. With a brilliant physique, gelled hairs and tattoos around his body, du Plessis could have well been a model if not a cricketer.

Former New Zealand captain and current England Test head coach Brendon McCullum also once jokingly remarked that du Plessis never misses an opportunity to remove his shirt. Both McCullum and du Plessis used to play for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League at one point in time. Alike du Plessis, even McCullum has all the qualities to make a career in the modeling line.
“He loves to get his kit off, doesn’t he? Every second, whenever there was an opportunity to take his shirt off, he’d do it. And fair enough, if you look like that, why wouldn’t you?,” McCullum had once said about du Plessis.
Faf du Plessis Arabic Tattoo Meaning
The Royal Challengers Bangalore‘s captain has a lot of tattoos on his body, and he has explained the meanings of most of them. However, during yesterday’s IPL 2023 match between Bangalore and Chennai at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, du Plessis had to lift his jersey to receive medical treatment around his ribs.
The fans noticed a tattoo over his left rib. Contrary to popular beliefs, this is not in Arabic, but an Urdu word ‘Fazal’. It translates to ‘Grace’ or ‘Blessing’, and a believer of the almighty. du Plessis is baptized, and he dedicates it to change in his life by the grace of God.

How Many Body Arts Does RCB Captain Have?
Talking about du Plessis’ other tattoos, he has one on his arms which reads “Dies a Domino XVIII I MMXI”. It symbolizes his international debut for South Africa on January 18, 2011, against India. He played a brilliant knock of 60 (78) in that match. In a video on RCB’s Youtube Channel, du Plessis also talked about the reason behind getting the same done.
“My first one was, I always wanted to get something but I wasn’t sure what to get, so I just said to myself, I’ll know when it is the right thing to get. That’s the first day that I played for South Africa against India – My debut against India, where I scored 60 or something,” du Plessis said in the video.
On the other side, he has a tattoo of a compass which is directed towards the Adelaide Oval. This is the place where he made his Test debut. In the same tattoo, the date of his marriage and the day he got baptized are also inscribed. du Plessis married long-time girlfriend Imari Visser in 2013. Right above it, there is an “Agape” tattoo, which means unconditional love.
