Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis has been in phenomenal form in the ongoing 16th season of the Indian Premier League, having already smashed six half-centuries across the 11 innings so far.

Presently donning the Orange Cap (for most number of runs), the 38-year-old has made it a point to provide blistering starts to his team especially in the Powerplay, and his improved game against spinners has made him an even more dangerous batter than the preceding years.

His strike rate of 149.01 against the spinners this season (until April 30) has been the highest across all his preceding years in the IPL (where he had played a minimum of 100 deliveries).

In fact, amongst the present top-10 leading run-scorers in IPL 2023, the Proteas batter’s strike rate is the second-best – at 157.80, with the Rajasthan Royals opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal leading in his facet of the game, striking at 160.60.

Faf du Plessis has amassed a total of 576 runs across 11 innings so far in IPL 2023, at a stellar average of 57.60.

Having batted as an opener across all these innings, du Plessis has, so far, scored these runs after facing mere 365 deliveries. His six half-centuries have been scored with the help of 45 Fours and 32 Sixes.

His highest score of 84 (56) this season, had arrived against the Punjab Kings at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium Stadium, in Mohali.
