Faf du Plessis out today: Quetta Gladiators batsman fails to defend a low-bounce Mohammad Wasim delivery in PSL 2021

Faf du Plessis out: The senior batsman from Quetta Gladiators didn’t get going at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium tonight.

During the 18th match of the ongoing sixth season of the Pakistan Super League between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators in Abu Dhabi, Islamabad United fast bowler Mohammad Wasim made early inroads after captain Shadab Khan won the toss and chose to bowl.

Introduced into the attack as a first-change bowler in the third over, Wasim created instant impact by dismissing Quetta Gladiators batsman Faf du Plessis on a delivery which kept low.

du Plessis, who had played the first few deliveries on the back foot, gave the impression of expecting another one at the same length. However, just as Wasim pitched the ball up, the right-hand batsman was in no position to defend the ball. As mentioned above, the low bounce on the ball also didn’t help du Plessis’ case.

Opening the batting with Usman Khan (14), du Plessis departed after scoring 5 (8). Playing his first match in the second leg, the 36-year old batsman never really got going at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium tonight.

A disciplined bowling performance in the first half by United’s bowlers have restricted Gladiators to 68/3 at the halfway mark.
